For those of you have haven't come across it yet, Etsy is the world’s handmade marketplace. Here's what they have to say: "Our mission is to empower people to change the way the global economy works. We see a world in which very-very small businesses have much-much more sway in shaping the economy, local living economies are thriving everywhere, and people value authorship and provenance as much as price and convenience. We are bringing heart to commerce and making the world more fair, more sustainable, and more fun."

I couldn't agree more! Bring on the fun!

Olympic Happenings!
Monday 23rd July 2012

Enienay has been invited to be part of the Make/Shift Market at the Industi(us) Festival of Upcycling, smack bang in the heart of the London Olympic action!

Here's what they say on their blog: "Industri[us] is a great example how people + hard work x enormous spirit and determination = amazing energy and change.

Approaching Industri[us] from Canning Town Station or from the Emirates Air Line Cable Car, you will be met with two beautifully landscaped open squares and the smell of delicious street food, courtesy of traders at Urban Feasts. You can marvel at the artistic talents of Rosetta Arts’ community art wall and the ROBOTS >>>> Canning Town Giant."

Enienay will be part of the Make/Shift Market where you will be able to indulge in a little retail therapy.... "come be amazed at the alchemy some folks have to be able to make discarded material look so good"!

Following this you can even take the Ping Pong Challenge at the custom built pavilion. There is something for everyone this summer at Industri[us], so if you are in our great City for the Olympics, Nina hopes to see you there!

Enienay will be at the Make/Shift Market: Saturday 28th July, Thursday 2nd August, Friday 3rd August, Saturday 4th August, Thursday 9th August, Friday 10th August, Saturday 11th August. Please note: Sunday 5th August and Sunday 12th August we will be at Spitalfields as usual. For more information on Industri(us) and the Make/Shift Market please click here

An All-Round Success!
Thursday 3rd May 2012

Big balloons, confetti, pom pom flowers and a lovely springtime palette ensured our show at Alternative Fashion Week was a huge hit!

Thank you so much to all of you who were able to be there in person and of course to all my lovely models! Pink fizz and Mr. Kipling's finest French Fancies were enjoyed post show, with tales of still hand stitching the wedding dress backstage as the first collections went out - gulp! Good job we were the finale!

Hot off the catwalk I have created versions of the Spring Swing dresses which are available now in the Boutique! As well as featuring my signature suit lapels, cuffs and shirt collars, the new swing dresses pop with print thanks to panels cut from lovely vintage skirts and dresses that I have collected over the past few years and finally found their perfect purpose! The full circle skirts are made from 'end of line' poly-crepe in a sorbet rainbow of colours.

Due to the small quantities of fabric, each dress can be replicated less than 10 place your orders quick-smart! Perfect for those summer weddings (I personally have 6 to go to this year...hmm...I wonder which one I should keep?!)

The peach, pale aqua dress featured on the catwalk (available in the boutique) is a particular favourite of mine as the rose fabric was my Mum's skirt from the '80s. It was her Birthday the day before the show so it was a little loving hello to her. My parents were a great support as always - Mum didn't recognise the fabric herself...but Dad did! Go Dad!

Special thanks to the wonderful Pom Pom Factory, Balloon Shack, Bettina Strenske at Vibrant Pictures, Elizabeth Pick Choreography and my models (from left to right in the line-up) Zoe Briggs, Helen Darlington, Bethany Jenkins, Elizabeth Pick, Amelia, Maddie Joseph, Ariana and Patrycja Dziekan.

Enienay in Madrid!
Thursday 15th December, 2011

Very exciting news here for team Enienay! In the very early hours of tomorrow, we are heading off to Madrid*, having been selected as one of only 5 designers from Spitalfields to showcase our collections at the huge Beefeater Londonize event in the heart of Madrid's shopping district. We have made lots of beautiful stock, with the help of extra seamstresses and tailors and a few little Christmas elves too!

The latest design is this beautiful Swing dress, featuring a reconstructed suit jacket lapel, a full swing style skirt in deep plum wool, and luxurious black velvet or satin stripe paneling. This tuxedo inspired dress is available in limited numbers and of course as with all of the up-cycled Enienay collection, each one is as unique as you are!

Please contact us directly to find out about availability if you are planning to pay us a special visit at Spitalfields in the New Year. We would like to wish all of our customers a very Merry Christmas, and hope to see you either one Sunday in 2012 or this weekend in Madrid!

Love from Nina, Enienay x

p.s. *It means we won't be at Spitalfields on Sunday 18th December - sorry to have missed you!

A Very Special Day
Tuesday 31st May, 2011

I am always so pleased to hear about the wedding day of the brides I have created dresses for, and to see the photographs of them showing the dress in all its glory on the big day itself. When I heard news from Lauren earlier this year it was particularly poignant. Lauren and Steve were due to get married in Christchurch, New Zealand, just after the earthquake hit. A bit more of a dramatic start to the proceedings than they had hoped for but very fortunately their family and friends were safe, Steve managed to fly over from the UK just in time, and the wedding went ahead as planned!

It was wonderful to work on Lauren's dress with her, and meeting her lovely Mum and twin sister when they flew over here and joined us for a fun brain-storming consultation. Along with the recycled white shirts I also incorporated the hand crocheted lace made by Lauren's grandmother, as well as her tablecloth which I used to line the skirt of the dress.

Lauren wrote to me... “Thank you so much for my dress. It was perfect and I felt both very comfortable and beautiful in it. I had many lovely comments about it... you made a special day even more special.”

I wish Lauren and Steve all the very best for a future that is peaceful, happy and disaster free!

The Summer of Love!
Tuesday 24th August, 2010

Here are the photos of the beautiful Jane in her bespoke Enienay Shirt Wedding dress earlier this Summer. It was a wonderful experience working with Jane and her now husband Bob, who had his own input in designing the dress with Jane and I, here at my studio.

Although not the traditional way of doing things, it felt very natural sharing ideas together and it is very clear what a perfect couple they are. It also meant Bob was able to contribute his own selection of white shirts along with those from Jane's Father, Brother, Brother -in Law, and Nephew, with some shirts travelling all the way from Toronto!

Here are a few kind words from the lovely Jane...

“By the way, my family and friends loved the dress.  I even won the "best" wedding dress award according to one.  I didn't even know that this award existed but I think it should go to you since you did all the hard work.  My brothers and dad were very touched and very surprised.  My brother, Harry, was flabbergasted.  Thank you so much for helping to make the day so special.”

Talking of being 'flabbergasted', I was rather taken aback myself last month when my dear sweet Benji asked me to marry him! A perfect moment and a perfect surprise, happy smiles all round! x

Thank you to Steve George for the photos of Jane, please visit to see more of his wonderfully sensitive work.

Enienay Goes East
Tuesday, 13th October 2009

You may have noticed that the Enienay online boutique is looking a little empty just lately – thanks to excellent sales from new and old customers alike. I am nearing completion on a lovely new set of pieces, including the Jacket Jacket, which is already a big hit at Spitalfields with its cinched in waist and cute puff cap sleeves in gentleman’s suiting fabrics. So please do keep checking the boutique for the new beauties!

I am pleased to say that a sizeable collection of Enienay is currently on its way to KJ04 BUX, a select concept fashion shop in Guangzhou, China. Selling vintage, recycled and new items, their customers are mainly fashion designers, stylists, media professionals and artists; who above all, are pursuing a sense of diversity and uniqueness.

Enienay is honoured to be representing English eccentricity to the select clientele at KJ04 BUX!

Have you seen my favourite white shirt, Darling?!...
Thursday, 30th July 2009

I am delighted to share with you these beautiful images of the bride, Nathalie, in my most recent commission: a wedding dress made from recycled white shirts. Having seen the Enienay shirt dresses at the Spitalfields stall, Natalie asked me to create a floor-length fishtail version for her recent wedding to Thomas, held in the grounds of a chateau, just outside Paris.

Having previously created bespoke bridal wear using fine silks and the more traditional pattern cutting methods (see Gallery, pages 2 -3), I saw the creation of a recycled, reconstructed wedding dress as an opportunity to celebrate the essence and possibilities of the ready-to-wear Enienay label.

Along with shirts from Christian Dior, Van Heusen and Marks and Spencers (no less!), I also incorporated, in collusion with the Bride, an old Thierry Mugler shirt belonging to the unsuspecting Groom!

“You cannot imagine how happy I was to wear this very special dress you made for me. I had an uncountable number of compliments from just everyone. I had to explain how I came across you so many times! Needless to say that I felt very comfortable in it, both in my head and in my body, and it helped me stay relaxed throughout the day”

Thank you Nathalie for your kind words and many congratulations to you both!

Thank you also to David Aelbrecht for his wonderful photographs. More of David's work can be seen here.

Well hello there…

Welcome to the shiny new Enienay website!

Thank you to all my loyal customers for your patience. Now that it is finally here, I hope you find the site a pleasure to use, and that you enjoy seeking out your own unique piece of Enienay in the Boutique.
Here in the News section, I will add little snippets of information that may be of interest to you; special commissions, shows, events…picnics, parties and adventures!

A few months ago I was delighted to be asked to design a bespoke performance outfit for the lovely Lois Winstone. As well as acting and modelling, Lois is lead vocalist for electro band 'This Years Model'. A fun and creative commission – Lois was delighted with the results and totally shone on stage, as you can see.

Prior to the commission Lois wore one of my classic Enienay styles, a shortened version of the Suit Drape Skirt, to the Donkey Punch premiere. Click here to look at the paparazzi pics – she wears it so well!
